The Atom has changed over time. The Atom has changed because "chemists" have discovered more details about the atom. The idea of the atom developed by the Greeks was a substance that could not be broken down to a simpular substance. this is now not true because the atom is made up of Nuetrons, Protons, and Electrons. Nuetrons are in the nucleus along with protons and Electrons are in the cloud around the atom.

Regular atoms that are not radioactive will follow the Law of Conservation of Mass. It states that all atoms (the nucleus) is unchangeable but radioactive isotopes will break down by half lifes into smaller elements.

Well all atoms are composed of the same parts- protons, which have a positive charge, neutrons- which have no charge, and electrons- which have negative charge. Different amounts of valence electrons determine the characteristics of an atom/element. So all atoms are composed of the same parts, but because they make up elements which all have varying properties and tendency to bond, not really.

Yes, an atom can be changed due to different circumstances, although most that effect the nucleus of the atom are particularly energetic and do not tend to happen under normal circumstances. Nuclear fission and fusion changes atoms. Radioactive decay changes them as well. Ionization might also be considered changing an atom, although it more often involves the electrons than the nucleus.
