He got his first dog, a German Shepard, back in like 1993 along with his first house. He got his second or third dog, Shorty the labrador, in 1999.
Beagles are very sociable, there may be some tension at first until they sort out who is "top dog", but after that there should be no trouble. Of course every dog has his own personality, so results may vary.
They can, just the same as any other dog. The thing with Beagles is that they'll howl a lot.
