NO !! Power Steering FLUID IS SIMILAR TO TRANSMISSION FLUID...
BRAKE FUILD IS LIKE NOTHING ELSE
All power steering fluids are the same. You do not need to buy a brand name to get a good fluid.
Alot of transmission fluids are the same as power steering fluid so I wouldnt worry
no, brake fluid is not the same as power steering fluid, make sure you actually get the right stuff. and double check what type of brake fluid you have (dot 3/ dot 5) because there is a difference there too
The master brake cylinder has nothing to do with the rack and pinion steering. In some vehicles the power steering box and the power brake booster share the same hydraulic power assist system.
Not as bad as putting a little bit of power steering fluid in the brake reservoir, but I would have the power steering system flushed just the same. Problems wouldn't happen soon but in the long term they will.
Power steering pump failure, has power brake assist line conected to it. It uses the power steering pump to bring hydraulic pressure to master cylinder.
NO. The two fluids are not the same. Buy a can of the proper P/S fluid.
Yes oil is cheaper than pump on steering rack [box] every 4 years same with brake fluid.
It is always advisable to check manufacturer's recommendation for any vehicle. The fluids would be similar, but not idendical.
They don't, 2 separate systems...they can use thee same pump for pressure as in "hydroboost"system.........
In older model vehicles they were one in the same. Always refer to the owners manual and the cap to the reservoir. The cap will reference Dexron-Mercon for General Motors, Toyota and other makes. Ford vehicles reference type F. However...Newer model vehicles have specific power steering fluids that are different from conventional transmission fluids. Both are still hydraulic fluids but are not interchangeable.
The power steering fluid used varies according to the pump not the motor. It is best to use your owner's manual or repair manual to find the correct type of fluids to use for your vehicle.
