I've heard of allergic reactions to Citronella.
There is a new candle on the market called bite-lite. Bite-Lite candles masks our natural scent, with spearmint and lemongrass. These scents have been proven to out perform everything on the market.
My children love the scent, not mediciney at all.

Citronella candles are almost entirely naturally composed and do nothing to harm the environment. The most worrying part of the citronella candles would be the Aldehydes and Alcohol content, but even these are miniscule in proportion. If they were to pose any sort of threat to the environment you would probably have to burn about 500,000 tonnes of it at once, and then it still would not be as harmful as a four hour aeroplane flight, in terms of burning jet-fuel (kerosene).
Mosquitoes like you :-D

Only if it's the 31st of February and a full moon.
Citronella is a plant that can be grown by gardeners. Like most herbs, citronella can be extracted in crushed or dried forms. The dried product or extraction, made into a concoction, decoction or essence, can in turn be made into candles, homeopathic insecticides or mosquito repellents.
Citronella candles will shoo away most fliers & they are the biggest nuisance.
