By definition, no. A compound must contain atoms of two or more elements.

This is, to some extent, an artificial semantic distinction. Several elements (hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine) exist normally as diatomic molecules. If we "mix and match" we can still make diatomic molecules in some cases (hydrogen and chlorine or nitrogen and oxygen, for example) , but now they're "compounds".
