I wouldn't say that they're dumb. They learn best what is done regularly, for instance, pail-feeding. they catch on to that very quickly, provided they hear/see the pail. I have a cow that I halter-broke as a yearling, then she was turned out to pasture. I got her in after a long time, gave her some grain, put a halter on her where she stood, and she lead around as easily as ever. when I showed her, she was fine with the whole washing/clipping/bloowing thing, too. cattle also learn very quickly how to get away with things. if you back down even once when they come at you, they will learn that they can push you around all the time. Cows also have incredible instincts for mothering calves. while they are not dumb, I don't think they are the most intelligent animals out there.

Cows are dumb because that's what humans make them out to be out of many misconceptions, misunderstandings and underestimations of what cows are really capable of. Seriously, cows are actually very smart animals, some say more than a horse and probably to that of a mule or donkey (which are said to be smarter than horses as well). Cows may not be smart as far as intellect is concerned like with humans, but they're smart as far as being able to learn quickly, telling when something is completely out of place or not to their ordinary day-to-day routines, among many other things. Much of the statements that cows are "dumb animals" come from those who just don't understand bovine behaviour or psychology (i.e., what is really going through a cow's head). I wouldn't doubt that a cow would think a human is a very stupid animal simply because they miss the most obvious things that a cow can plainly see and a human blatantly chooses to ignore!!

Not even close. Monkeys are primates and have large and complex brains that can function at the level of a human child. Cows just eat and fart ;)<---- this guy is stupid
