I assume that 'crooks' are the staffs used by sheep shepherds? If so, yes, a shepherd is still using a shepherd's crook today. The crook part is used mainly to catch a sheep round the throat, either to get hands on, or to lift the sheep from an awkward place - in a ditch of water, mud, or on a ledge on a cliff face within reach, and so on.

Crowbars are still commonly used today for tasks such as prying open containers, removing nails, and various construction tasks. Their design and functionality make them versatile and useful tools in various industries and applications.
