Yes, any type of deer or ungulate can be very aggressive during the breeding season. Deer, especially bucks, have sharp antlers and hooves that can kill or maim an opponent or animal that challenges it, including dogs and humans. The main reason for this is because they have to be on their guard to protect their harem from opposing males that may threaten their chance to spread their genetics to future generations. Heightened testosterone levels always play a role in such aggressive behaviours in any herbivorous male mammals that have to breed more than one female in one breeding season. These include bulls of various species including the domestic bovine, elephant, elk, moose, buffalo, bison, antelope, caribou, etc., even wild boars or pigs, goat bucks, and rams.
