depends on year model and if any has changed them. older were different using round head key for door and squar for ing. newer model uses same key

No , my 1995 will do that once in a while and I just poke the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder once or twice and it will stop ( at least so far ! )
Make sure you have the right key because the door key will turn the ignition but won't start the car.
I would like to desable the door charm. I took #25 fuse out and lost the charm and the speed odomater.

When i bought my thunderbird the key to the ignition didnt fit the door locks so i had to replace the locks. That might be the best answer. :]
