For growing children, whole egg is good because the yolk has cholesterol and fat that are important for the healthy development of the brain. For adults, middle aged and older, its best to avoid the yolk so as to cut back on cholesterol and saturated fat. It's good to eat just the egg whites which is rich in protein and has very little cholesterol and saturated fat.
