Electrons are components of all atoms.
Electrons are units of matter or energy.
an atom because everything is made up of atoms!
Amino acids are the building blocks for protiens. Carbohydrates are generally made out of a carbon backbone with hydrogens filling all of the open electrons on the carbons.
The opposite of an atom is an "Anti-Atom" which forms the building block of anti-matter just like atom is of simple matter. In anti atom the nucleus contains anti-portons which are similar to protons in mass but posses a negative charge. the particles revolving around nucleus are called anti electrons or positrons they have mass equal to that of the electron but unlike the electron the carry a positive charge. The opposite of an atom is an "Anti-Atom" which forms the building block of anti-matter just like atom is of simple matter. I am not sure there is one. Galaxies contain stars, gas, dust, black holes and other dead stars, and - above all - dark matter. The dark matter typically makes up 80-90% of a galaxy's mass.

The basic building block of matter is the atom.
atoms are the building blocks of matter.
The smallest building block of life is the electron. It is a negatively charged particle with 1/85000th the mass of a proton or neutron, but the arrangement of electrons determines many characteristics of matter.
An atom is the smallest building block of matter that retains the characteristics of that matter.
