Erythrocytes, or red blood corpuscles, are indeed enucleate . . . that is, have no nuclei.

They need the room for all the hemoglobin that they can carry. It also means that they can only live for about 120 days.

Yes, for that reason they are unable to make repairs to themselves and last on average 120 days before being phagocytized by the liver or spleen.

They lack a nucleus - they come from cells which have a nucleus but in the mature form, they are just balls of protein.
