Dangers include:

  • risk of heart attack or other stress injuries
  • traffic accidents on the way to an emergency or at a scene
  • falling from high places
  • being hit by flying debris or equipment
  • smoke inhalation
  • running out of air in the breathing apparatus
  • getting burned or crushed in a fire
  • contamination by contact with sick patients or HAZMAT
  • occupational diseases (cancer, poisoning, pulmonary disease, etc)
