Compared to most of history, yes. For the most part, gay/LGBT rights are much more progressive in today's society than in the past, but it does depend on each country . and their laws. There are some exceptions in history when society was more accepting of LGBT people. For example, in Ancient Greece and Rome, men having relationships with men was a completely normal and accepted part of society, but after the spread of Christianity in those parts, it was considered unacceptable, and only now this is starting to slowly change.
