Democrats have a history of supporting equality for all Americans. Gay rights are no different.
Most Democrats believe in gay rights and believe in protecting gays against discrimination, most are firmly against the military's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy (which ironically was signed by a Democrat). But Democrats are split in their beliefs on gay marriage. Although most Democrats don't want there to be an amendment that defines marriage as between a man and woman, some of those same Democrats don't want gay marriage made legal mostly due to religious reasons. Practically all Demcrats support civil unions for gays.
Most probably because they want to keep and protect their gay employees. Also, many companies are realizing that some of their customers are gay, and they want to keep and protect them, as well.
Yes! In regards to social policy (i.e. gay rights) Libertarians and Democrats are very similar.
It depends on which rights you are talking about. For example:As of 2013, 14 states allow gay people to marry.29 states protect people from losing their jobs over being gay.
The state has no duty or right to "protect" morality. It has always been an excuse for oppression. Examples include slavery, minorities and women's voting rights, gay rights, and many more.
gay rights are positive rights.
Looking online it seems like it must be fairly friendly. They recently passed two new laws to protect gay rights.
Not really. There is a group called the Stonewall Democrats, but it's function is quite different than Log Cabin Republicans, since the vast majority of the Democratic Party accepts gay people and gay rights. So there is no need need for a "log cabin" type of group. Not really. You don't get rights for being gay. In fact, depending on where you live, you lose rights for being gay.
Women's rights and gay rights definitely have some overlap, but the differences are in what rights are lacking.
They do support gay rights :)
Gay rights are a moral issue, but not a dilemma. It's pretty clear-cut that if you want a society based on equality, then all the members of the society have to be equal under the law.
