German Shepherd are not mean. Sometimes, they are bred for the purpose of being fierce, like police dogs and guard dogs. People normally view them as being vicious and mean only because that's how their trainer trained them. It is actually really the trainer's fault- if he/she doesn't train the dog properly, the dog can turn out to be disobedient and possibly vicious. German shepherds are actually very sweet dogs and I had a puppy who was just wonderful and the sweetest little thing. So no, I wouldn't say they were mean at all.
