In fact horses manure can be used in your garden so they cant be un-hygenic or people wouldn't risk getting sick by helping their garden
Although I am a horse lover myself, I have to say that it is a very good idea to wash your hands after going to a horse stable- not because of the horses themselves, but because of the fact that- you have to admit it- a barn has dirt and poop everywhere. Especially since in the summer, about 80% of horses in the US have tapeworms. Not that they are unhygenic, just that you should still wash your hands.
