If you were to add olive oil to your food as part of a diet to lower your risk of atherosclerotic disease you would use olive oil as what?

Is liquid at room temperature

Why is hydrogenated olive oil solid but cis-unsaturated olive oil a liquid?

The double bond in the cis-unsaturated olive oil is bent in the center and doesn't pack well into a crystal lattice necessary to make it a solid, so it turns out to be liquid at room temperature. Hydrogenated olive oil however is a solid because all of its double bonds are trans and it can fit into a crystal lattice. Hope that's helpful :)

Which is the best low cholesterol oil brand?

Cholesterol is an animal product. It is not present in fruits or vegetables. Corn oil, canola oil and olive oil, and just vegetable oil all contain 100 calories a tablespoon. What these oils have, or don't have, is an unsaturated or saturated value or have the property of being hydrogenated or not. The best oils are unsaturated and NOT hydrogenated. They are Canola and Olive oil.

Olive oil that is hydrogenated lowers risk of atherosclerosis true or false?

Yes and no. Olive oil does lower risk of athersclerosis by raising the "good" cholesterol levels, so you body can care for and clean itself. But hydrogenated oils are chemically different in their basic structure. Hydrogenated oils have hydrogen molecules fused to the oils by force in massive machinery, and for some reason, this changes what the oil is from its most basic level. Traces of oils in their natural state are generally completely eliminated from the body in 18 days average, whereas it takes the body 56 days on average to process hydrogenated and partially-hydrogenated oils.

Is hydrogenated oil or white flour worse for you?

Hydrogenated oil is far worse.

Can butter made with olive oil replace shortening in baking?

Butter is made from milk. I can not be made from olive oil. Olive oil comes from olives and butter comes from a milk of some short (usually from cow's milk). If you are thinking of the margarine made with olive oil this is likely the spreadable kind that you buy in tub. This is not the same thing either. I think that it is vegetable oils whipped with water and salt and thickeners. Shortening is hydrogenated vegetable oil. You will have more luck substituting butter or lard for your shortening.

What type of oil is the worst for a healthy lifestyle?

Crude oil lol. Hydrogenated fats are the worst, they've been banned in the UK. After that it's animal fat (saturated fat) then vegetable oil. Best is extra virgin olive oil (I think) but it's quite expensive.
