Yes. Each Marine is trained leadership in their rigorous recruit training. They have influenced the warrior ethos greatly among their personnel, making them the tip of the spear in almost every situation they are put in.

Think of the odds they get sometimes. Marines can do a lot with what little they might have. But not only that, they are put in places that are very dangerous and they fight hard.

For example, when have you seen Marines doing civil affairs, as a combat unit? honestly I've only seen Army personnel doing that duty, and I wouldn't picture that to define a shock trooper.
