They are not afraid really, they just don't want to deal with the fall out (complaining, griping, etc.) that goes with the situation when things don't go as the wife wants things to go. It's a sad situation because two people who are married should COMPROMISE and work together. No one should be bullied or manipulated but I see it all the time with couples. It's really a matter of choice. The man either decides to put up with it or he gets out. No partner should be controlled by the other through bullying or manipulation. That's not love and the relationship will not last unless the man becomes submissive and loses his backbone. However, I believe in some situations a man can be afraid of his wife - there are some crazy people out there who are truly mean and vindictive people so I think it's entirely possible for a man to be arfraid of his wife. In that situation the best thing to do is get out however you can.
