interesting question and I don't have a good link to support the following Some of it probably is, as plastics and many chemicals depend on oil. Much of what we throw out contains metals particularly aluminum which are non-renewable resources.
like all metals, platinum is made of minerals which are mined from the earth, thus non-renewable. my Biology professor says it is renewable :)
