Supercar was an adventure-Science Fiction puppet series that was created by the late Gerry Anderson in either the very late fifties or the early sixties. Unlike some others, it was set in the expanses of the Western US. The Supercar was a sci-fi multi-role vehicle which could fly, run on roads, and also operate as a boat or submarine. It used turbine engines which ran at the high R.P.M. of l5,000, the warm-up drill being part of the intro to the program. The operator of the Supercar was one Mike Mercury, who seemed to be based on the actor Dean Martin. There was more comedy than in most Anderson programs, but still it was science-fiction . It was not quite clear just who the Supercar team was in the employ of- but my guess it was a U.S. Government agency of some sort, with intelligence overtones. now=-rig for full vertical boost!
Shelby SuperCars was created in 1999.
