Mosquitos bite at any time of the day/night. They do not like direct sunlight and that gives the appearance of only biting at night. However if you sit in a shady spot with moist air on a sunny day they will find you.

The ones in this part of the country (deep South) prefer to bite in the late afternoon, evening and night, hopefully feeling they are protected from your killing them by the darkness. However, they will be very happy to bite you at any time you offer them an arm, or if you are wearing summer clothing with little protection to offer you.
