It depends on the construction of the motor. If the field winding is connected in series with the armaturewinding, the motor is like a universal motor and will probably operate normally. If the field winding is connected in parallel with the armature, the motor will not run, but will draw current, make noise and get hot.
An AC drive is a type of adjustable-speed drive used in electro-mechanical drive systems to control AC motor speed and torque by varying motor input frequency and voltage. AC drives are used in applications ranging from small appliances to the largest of mine mill drives and compressors.
Shaft(rotor) of DC motor and Alternator(AC Generator) are alligned axially and radially to each other and connected.
I assume a 3 phase, AC induction motor. A star delta starter or a soft starter can be used. A soft starter is better compared to a star delta starter, but it is more expensive.
To use a star delta starter, the motor must be a three phase six wire motor. The extra wires out are the wires that are usually terminated in the motor housing as the star point. The starter, when energized, brings the star contactor in and closes the star point coil ends. An external timer times out after the motor gets up to speed in the star connection and drops the star contactor and closes the delta contactor. When in the delta connection the motor coils are then paralleled to allow the motor to run at full voltage.
One can purchase an AC drive at DriveSys, Vacon, EmersonIndustrial, Delta or GETransporation. An AC drive is a device used to control the speed of an electrical motor.
Ac motor have slip ring, to remove the slip ring, connected to the commutator its a dc motor.
30kva generators ,it can be able to run the 18kw ac motor
A dc series motor with speed control can be connected on ac supply because dc machines are totally reversible.
An AC Drive used for a speed control of a motor by using vary frequency.

An AC drive is a device that converts AC power into a desired frequency to allow for AC motor speed control. This term is commonly used in engineering.
It is done to control the speed of the motor.
Basically AC motors would not work on DC supply but there's however an exception for a Universal motor also known as a series motor. This is the only motor as far as I know that work on both AC and DC.
Use a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) to drive the motor and do not run the motor at more than 50% of the full capacity. For higher RPM use gear system.
If you are talking about slip in a conveyor belt connected to a motor, the answer is there will not be any effect on the motor, but the slip will cause the efficiency of the connected device.
