Animals should not be tested for things like makeup and cosmetics, but in a way it is kind of ok to test animals for medicine because if we didn't, we would not have all those miracle-working resources like cancer medicine and other life-saving treatments. I think rabbits, mice and other small animals are tested for medicine, I am not sure.

In Western medicine, animals are not used to produce medications for humans because the risk of allergic and immune reactions against animal proteins is too high. In Eastern medicine, particularly traditional and herbal remedies, certain tissues from certain animals are considered to be medicinal.
