No they are not posinous
They are red with black spots on their wings.ladybirds are usually red but can be orange or yellow as well.
well i am guessing red ones are male ladybirds because red is kind of a boy colour and i think the orange ones are female because orange is like a girl colour or it could be the other way round!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The insect that lays orange eggs on ferns is likely to be a type of ladybug known as the orange ladybird (Halyzia sedecimguttata). These ladybirds are commonly found on ferns and their eggs can be orange in color. The larvae of these ladybirds feed on aphids and other small insects found on ferns.

it can be any colour but it depends on what type of the ladybird it is?!
Ladybugs protect themselves by secreting an orange, smelly fluid from the joints on their legs. Also their red/orange coloration is to ward off predators.
what makes you think that there wouldn't be any ladybirds in Auckland? There are several lady beetles native to New Zealand. Some of those species in Otago have a black body with orange spots or splotches.
