Not really, but they probably have rocky cores, far beneath gases and liquefied gases.

Also, Neptune and Uranus probably do have some "ices" in their interiors.

Why are outer planets moons still made of rock?

The moons of the outer planets generally have rocky interiors and exteriors made of ice. Rock, particularly silicate rock, is quite abundant because silicon and oxygen are fairly common elements.

What 3 ways do inner planets differ from outer planets?

Inner planets are smaller and made of rock and metal, while outer planets are larger and predominantly made of gas and ice. Inner planets have few or no moons, while outer planets have numerous moons. Inner planets have solid surfaces, while outer planets do not have solid surfaces, instead having thick atmospheres.

Which outer planet is made of mostly ice instead of gas?

Neptune and Uranus (tee-hee) are the only two ice giants in our solar system.

Inner an outer planet similarities?

The inner and outer planets are The same because The Inner planets are not made out of gas The outer planets are bigger than inners The outer planets are the coldest The Inner planets are rocky The inner planets are terrestrial The outer planets can't support life The inner planets have iron cores The outer are the furthest from the sun The outer planets haveno rocky surface

Are all the planet around the solar rock and sand?

No. The outer planets are gas giants and ice giants.

What are 3 special characteristics of the three outer planets?

Why would the average densities of the four large outer planets be so low when compared with the average densities of the inner planets?

Because the outer planets are composed of mainly gas or ice, whereas the inner planets are composed of rock which has a higher density.

Which planets has rings the inner or outer?

Both inner and outer planets in our solar system have rings. The outer planets with rings are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. These rings are made up of pieces of rock, dust, and ice. The inner planets, like Earth and Mars, do not have rings.

How are the inner planets and the outer planets different and alike?

The inner planets, also known as terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars), are smaller, rockier, and have solid surfaces. The outer planets, also called gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune), are larger, primarily made of gas, and have no solid surface. Both sets of planets orbit the Sun, but inner planets are closer to the Sun and have shorter orbital periods, while outer planets are farther away and have longer orbital periods.

Which of the outer planets has a surface more similar to the inner planets than to the outer planets?

Neptune has a surface more similar to the inner planets than to the other outer planets. It is primarily composed of rock and ice, similar to the composition of the inner planets, whereas the other outer planets are predominantly gas giants.

What are the outer planets composed of?
