Well it really depends on what bird your looking for a macaw is bigger and can talk probably as good as a parrot but it also depend what kind of parrot
They usually fly. They are parrots after all... they can kind of use their beak and claws to run around the tree trunks. But other than that, they fly.
I have a bit of a newsflash for you. Parakeets are parrots. The term "parakeet" is used to describe a medium-sized parrot. Parakeets are smaller, are cheaper to feed, are easier to maintain and need a smaller cage. Parrots are usually better talkers and live longer and need more attention but need more space. The better bird depends on what characteristics you want.
Ostriches are usually much larger than parrots, and also have larger eggs. Parrots are common pets as ostriches are usually wild.
Being birds, parrots have extremely good vision. Easily 2 to 3 times better than human vision.
Many parrots fear loud/sudden noises/movements. They can also fear other pets as well, being that they (the other pets) are often viewed as predators to the parrot. Also, it depends on the parrot...some are more relaxed than others. It just depends on the temperament.
No African greys are the best talkers
They are alike in some ways, yes. They also differ in quite a few ways. Parakeets are much smaller than parrots are. Parrots have a much better vocabulary. They can do more tricks, sound effects, and speak more. Parakeets do talk a little bit. Either way they both make great pets and will live for around seventy years.
camels are better pets than birds
Many parrots, including, but not limited to the scarlet macaw, can mimic the human voice, along with many other noises such as a cat, alarm, phone, etc. Much like humans, parrots learn their "language" from their parents and flock, so it simply a matter of exposure to the right sounds for them to learn more than their own "words".
I'm not sure why people keep finches as pets (all they seem to do is chirp and fly!), but I do know that parrots can be great companions. They're smart, have elaborate personalities, and can be a great joy to come home to after a bad day. Aside from a bit of noise and some mess, they're pretty lowmaintenance. They can get aggressive if not properly stimulated and taken care of, and the bigger ones (Macaws) can put quite a chomp in your finger. Quaker Parrots (or Monk Parakeets) are a small parrot that has great reviews as far as companionship goes. I personally own one, and he's the silliest, funniest, sweetest little thing you'd ever want to have! Almost better than a puppy.
On the whole, no.
The smartest parrots are the Grey Jaco, but they are very difficult to keep as pets, they are more sensitive to changes than other kind of parrots, they need much care and attention.
