"Atoms" are collections of "particles" in the modern "standard" model (SM). Atoms consists of a nucleus surrounded by "electron(s)" which are SM particles. The nucleus consists chiefly of "protons" and "neutron". which in turn are considered to be composed of "quarks", which are SM particles.

These fundamental "quantum" SM particles are conceived of as something very different from classical or intuitive idea of "particles" as being very small "bodies" or "corpuscles" of a solid material. Quantum "particles" are described as "wave-forms" rather than a small portion ("part") of some physical material.
