Many may tell you that going against the tide gets you drowned. Majority characterizes your eccentricity by turpitude. Consequentially, your reputation is jeopardized. Nevertheless, I am against that belief. I think, it is doing something quite unconventional in nature that distinguishes the extraordinary from the ordinary. Ironically, people are held back by their adherence to the beliefs of the majority or doing things in the conventional way. Galileo Galilei was one of the many victims who were punished for contradicting the convention. He was executed, for he went against the belief that the earth was flat.
Galileo Galilei was a very influential scientist who contributed much to this world. He, as the inventor of the telescope, made an assertion that the earth was round. This assertion of his contradicted the sacrosanct belief of majority. Since he went against the convention, he was put to death. But today, his soul is revered. Because of him, we get the opportunity to see what's beyond our naked gaze.
After all, if scientists wouldn't have had different perceptions and different ways of doing things, we wouldn't have the computer to e-mail and the electricity to gain the luxury of access to electronic gadgets.
Therefore, I conclude that many conjure up to these beliefs. Going against the convention for a noble cause is wise, otherwise foolish. G.K Chesterton once said, "I owe my success to having listened respectfully to the very best advice, and then going away and doing the exact opposite."
