No, periods are not a bad thing. The fact that there is shedding of blood can seem frightening to someone who is experiencing their period for the first time but the blood is only coming from the uterus as it sluffs off the lining that had formed over the previous month or so.

∙ 14y agoWell if you have an irregular period you should go see the doctor and they will probably tell you to go get a papsmear and then you will be put on birthcontrol.If you have an irregular period its best to get it checked up on because it could effect you later on in life.

You will only menstruate regularly if you ovulate regularly, and that will only happen if you're healthy. If you're in your teens irregular cycles are normal as it takes time for your cycles to regulate, but if you're an adult ask your doctor to run tests to find out what is wrong and look at treatments.
