Tremendous amounts of pigeon flocks in cities are often seen as a nuisance, but these birds are actually amazingly adapted to urban habitats and bring a bright spot of avian color to areas that otherwise would be devoid of wildlife.
Personally, I like pigeons. They're easily familiar to even novice birders, they aren't afraid of human contact and their behavior is fascinating. Granted, I don't have flocks of pigeons descending on my birdfeeders, nor is my backyard overrun with their voracious appetites. I enjoy their wide color and personality variations, and they're just plain fun to watch and to feed.
