There will be several opnions on this question I am sure. Pitbulls can be very safe and friendly pets, if the dogs family tree properly branches. Inbreeding of the breed to retain specific deminsions and traits has caused mental disorders with the breed. They can be VERY tempermental and have been known to attack their owners without provacation. They can also develope a highly territorial sense and attack, maime or even kill another pet or person. It all comes down to the pits bloodline and raising!
Pit-bulls are bull dogs bread to catch wild hogs they are not good dogs for families with small children if your child is younger than at least twelve years old i wouldn't advise having a pit-bull dog. They also are not a good pet to have if you have other small bread dogs or cats!
Not really.
They are expensive to buy. They eat a lot more than most dogs. They need exercising more than most dogs (they have bundles of energy, being heavily muscled). And although Pitbulls are no more likely to be violent than any other breed, if they are violent, they have a much higher chance of killing or seriously hurting anything they get ahold of. Especially a child, even if it just accidentally startles the dog.
Remember, these are dogs that are bred for fighting.
YES, I'm very happy you asked that question, Pits are thought to be aggressive when the truth is they are very obedient and want to please their owners. I don't know if you know about this but with the Michael Vick case, they put all the pit bulls up for adoption and everyone of them got a home and most of the homes had other pets and/or children. I beg to differ with you. All the Pits in the Michael Vick case were NOT put up for adoption. There were a number that were deemed un-adoptable because of their aggressive tendencies and were court ordered to live out the remainder of their lives on a sanctuary.
Pit bulls were actually bred to be hunting dogs in the old country to take down big prey as in lions, bears, tigers and so on. They do not make good guard dogs at all because of their need to be with humans. However if you want to make them into a guard dog they might turn on you because of lack of attention and human and other dog contact. But please don't confuse guard dog with a dog that is very into it's environment. Pits might be able to tell you when someones at the door, when someones in the house that they don't know and has the capability to attack someone who is hurting you.
Yes, but almost any medium or large-breed dog can be trained to protect your home and/or family.
A pitbull can be a good dog if we can train it to be a good dog....most pitbulls are strict to other dogs, can be a guard at home,is a really strong dog... :)

pitbulls
Pitbulls, like any dog, could be good or mean although, pitbulls most of the times are docile dogs that would rather be mean towards other animal but well trained, these dogs obey the master.
Cats are not a normal part of a dogs diet, but people who fight dogs (which are usually pitbulls) will use cats as bait to train the dogs to be mean.
All dogs vomit
All dogs do.
They are not considered herding dogs but I am sure that if you wanted you could train one to be. Pitbulls are good at pretty much anything they are trained to.
They can be trained to do this, but they are naturally wonderful dogs.
