In my opinion, they are certainly fair. If the person hadn't committed a crime or felony in the first place, then they wouldn't have been sent there. Prisons are a way of punishment for your wrong doing. Depending on what you did and how much it affected a person or persons tells you how long you would be held in prison. For example, if a serial killer slaughtered um.. 20,000 people I guess, they would probably be held in prison for a lifetime. One person killing 20,000 citizens is just unforgivable. Now if we had a case where a man was accused of molesting a child and he was found guilty, he would probably be kept in prison for about.. maybe 20 years or so? So yes, prison is VERY fair.
