Actually, sticking anything in your ear is not advised. Even something soft like a Q-Tip. Q-Tips could puncture the eardrum if overused or pushed in too hard. Doctors advise not to stick anything inside your ear, whether it be a finger, a Q-Tip, or even a doctor's thermometer! Many people feel dirty if there is wax buildup in their ears. However, ear wax is necessary for protecting the inner ear and keeping it clean of dirt and grime. The only time one might have an ear wax problem is if it damages their hearing. If this happens, one should call a doctor for a remedy.

do not use q tips because i used them and it ended up causing my ears to inflame which is really painful my doc told me the only thing you should use q tips is for clening your cars a/c lol.
It's probably swimmer's ear....you need to get it checked and they'll more than likely put you an antibacterial ear drops..until then..DO NOT put anything in the ear including Q-tips. Q-tips are bad because they probably caused the infection anyway. Avoid getting the ear wet in any kind of way.
