They are extremely intelligent and love to please. Easy to train and love children. At 7 mo, ours weighs about 100# and is getting bigger. This is the 2nd one we've had - the fitst was years ago. Both named "Bear". Such a love!

∙ 12y agoSaint Bernard dogs are highly intelligent. From experience, these dogs have great probem solving abilities - apart from their docile looks, the reasons they often appear unintelligent are that the dog in question merely cannot be bothered trying to complete the task, or that he or she is too stubborn to do what you want it to do. This is not to say that these dogs are contrary - they do like to please their owners. But they are intelligent enough to see clearly when there is no reason for them to do something, and therefore simply do not do it.

∙ 14y agoSaint Bernards are smart and extremely loyal. Saints can have a stubborn streak, so puppy training classes are recommended for every Saint Bernard.
