NOT at all...unless your really religious i would say GO for it! It looks pretty, especially with studs/diamonds/pearls. BUT NO WIERD THINGS (hoops, chains, hole things)
since it is in the upper part of the lobe it is less likely for infections and stuff like that...

Keep in mind however if you have a mess of various piercing studs all scattered around your ear and it looks confusing to you when you look in a mirror then maybe it's time to consider other options.
