skinks and lizards are similar
skinks are smaller -----> the shingle back lizard ( gilla monster ) is t a poisonous skink that lives in the australian outback.
lizards are larger ----> the only poisonous lizard is the comodo dragon in which its bite transfers bacteria which it uses for its prey
other then those to lizards and skinks arent poisonous
Skinks are not the least bit harmful to humans, but if a domestic animal were to eat them, it could be toxic or cause permanent nerve damage.
No members of the true Skink family are poisonous.
yes.. apparently a bite from the western red tailed skink could kill you. the pacific blue skink is not harmful though of the same species of skink.
No, they are not poisonous whatsoever.
no.
No, they are not poisonous.
No, they are not, however they bite but it does not hurt because they have small teeth but it only feels like a pinch but no, they are not poisonous. plus, right now for a little laugh i had a skink under my refridgeorator and we had to pull it out and i had to carry it outside! lol
If skinks are poisonous critters, take the cat to the vetrerinarian. Otherwise, relax . . . skinks are probably a source of good protein.
There is only 1 skink that i know of that is poisonous it is called the shingle back and is found in the outback deserts of australia
No, they are not, although many people seem to think these lizards are dangerous. The most common skinks in South Carolina are the blue-tailed, five-lined, and broadhead skinks. Many people mistakenly call them "scorpions," and believe their sting is venomous, but herpetologists say that is not true.
skinks have blue tails
Yes skinks have backbones which makes them a vertabrae.
Skinks eat other skinks. Big Skinks eat the skinks that are smaller then the bigger skinks. They drink milk from cows as well. There main thing they eat is snails. How skinks catch snails: They first jump on the snail and stomp ot it to make it crushed. (they prefer snails crushed)
Sand skinks live in the sand.
Some skinks have a blue tongue
Skinks are neither poisonous nor venomous. In fact, there are no poisonous lizards in the world- only venomous ones, and the only venomous lizards on Earth are the Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum spp.), the Mexican Beaded Lizard (Heloderma horridum spp.), and the Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis). Although many believe the Komodo Dragon's "venom" to be the product of solely dental bacteria, Dr. Brady Barr's recent work with the species has shown that they actually do have a venom of their own (as impotent as it may be). I talked with him in person about this work a couple years ago.
Australian skinks have a varied diet. Some of the things the skinks eat are moths, flies, caterpillars, and small insects.
