A subduction zone can be a result of a convergent plate boundary, but the terms are not synonymous. If the two convergent plates are continental, neither of them will subduct.

Why do earthquakes occur at greater depths along convergent plate boundaries?

Convergent boundaries are boundaries where tectonic plates are moving together. Since the edges of both can't be in the same place, one plate will be forced under another plate (and the other above). The plate going 'down' will thus go deeper into the earth - allowing deeper earthquakes to occur.

What type of plate boundary formed at islands?

constructive plate boundaries cause volcanoes.

What are the Names of the 4 plate boundaries?

I think there 1)Destructive (convergent) 2)collision(convergent) 3)constructive(divergent) 4)conservative(transform) the brackets are the same words

Are subducting plate and oceanic plate the same?

No. While only oceanic crust can subduct it is not always subducting. When two oceanic plates converge, only one of them subducts.

Do all plate boundaries operate the same way?

No, some are convergent (against each other), some are divergent (away from each other), and most boundaries are transform (horizontal grinding) at some point.

Why do most earthquakes occur at converging boundaries?

Convergent boundaries are boundaries where tectonic plates are moving together. Since the edges of both can't be in the same place, one plate will be forced under another plate (and the other above). The plate going 'down' will thus go deeper into the earth - allowing deeper earthquakes to occur.

What is similar in convergent plate boundary ocean to ocean and convergent plate boundary continent to continent?

They are the same size

Are plate boundaries the same as tectonic boundaries?

Yes

What is the difference between a convergent plate boundary and a destructive plate boundary?

there the same

Is mount shasta a divergent plate boundary volcano?

The Juan de Fuca plate, which is subducting under the North American plate. Mount Shasta is at the southern end of the same Cascade volcanic range that includes Mount St. Helens and extends northward into British Columbia, Canada.

What Type of plate boundary exists between Indian and Asia?

A Collision plate boundary, where two continental plates that are the same in density and thickness, push against each other forming fold mountains and crumble zones. This causes Earthquakes from the pressure and stress but not volcanoes.

What type of plate boundary forms volcanic islands?

I thought the same which forms mountain ranges, 'constructive' plates.Volcanic Island arcs are found along subduction zones, wich occur at convergent boundaries.
