yes, it is very bad for you, it ruins your skin, and kills cells
Tattoos are only bad for you if the needles are dirty, but as most premises are now hygenic that is basically not much of a problem. The bad part of tattoos comes when you have"' Ï love Sue" put on and you meet someone else: the only way this can be removed is through skin grafts and they are not 100% and look unsightly. It's up to you.

Tattoos are bad for your skin. Its harder to remove a tattoo, then to get it!

They are not bad for your skin, they just dont come off that easy. they dont create cancer or something, but can cause a rash or something if you have Allergies to them. that we know of so far

If done in an unhealthy environment, sure. Even with the most hygienic approach to tattooing, staph infections can occur, but this is VERY uncommon and when the ball of yarn gets unraveled, it is usually determined that the person who did the tattoo either did not properly sterilize their needles when they got them.....or they may very well have reused the needle.

Very unfortunate that some hacks in our profession do this, but it does happen from time to time. Do some research and don't get a tattoo just anywhere. Have a look around the shop. If it looks kind of scummy and dirty...then this is the most likely place that this will happen. Also, a good tattoo artist ALWAYS opens the needles and tube in front of you from a pre-packaged pouch that has gone through a medical grade autoclave....not just a pressure cooker for a stove! It kills me how some shops actually use this method because they don't want to pony out the dough for a proper piece of equipment. And if money is the issue, then buy pre-packaged DISPOSABLE needles and tubes. I used to use stainless a long time ago, but now I don't allow anything other than disposable in my shop. It just makes more sense.

Other than the SLIGHT chance of a Staph or any other kind of infection secondary to having a fresh wound, they do take a toll on your immune system for about the first day or so, but you should be slamming Vitamin C the day of the tattoo and for about a good week after anyways. It's just like giving blood in that respect. If during the tattoo you start to feel cold, shaky, or just sort of not "good" then wash some Skittles down with Orange Juice. You'll feel right as rain.

There are many reasons why people get tattoos, and such decisions should be respected. But there are also some reasons to think carefully before making such a choice. (1) Tattoos hurt. Some folks insist it's not so bad, but the process can indeed be long and painful. (2) Tattoos are permanent, so something you might think is incredibly cool when you are 18 might look really awful when you are 40. (3) Tattoos are still regarded as unprofessional by many businesses, so if you are trying to get a job and you have a visible tattoo, that may not be the right image for that company. (4) While most tattoo parlors are safe, and many states have regulations about the tattooing profession, not all of them do. Nor are all tattooists professionals-- some are not as hygienic as they need to be, and there have been reports of people getting diseases from unsterilized needles. And (5) If you decide you made a mistake by having your then-girlfriend or boyfriend's name tattooed on your arm (or you break up), removing a tattoo is very painful, not always effective, and very expensive. Most insurance plans do not cover removing a tattoo, which means you are stuck with something you wish you didn't have (see reason #2). It should also be noted that in some religions, tattoos are forbidden, so having a lot of them (or even one) may mean certain people from that religion may get the wrong impression about who you are as a person.

Tattoos are not healthy for your skin because they can cause health problems.

^incorrect^

In this modern age, the ingredients used to make tattoo ink and strictly controlled and apart from the rare 'red ink' allergy, NO health problems are reported.

When Iron Oxide was used many years back, there were issues with health.

However, saying this the jury is still out on UV tattoo's. They were originally banned years ago for the small amount of radiation present in the inks (it's what makes the tattoo glow under black lights)
