One Opinion
Without knowing the specifics of the reasons why teachers might go on strike, I'd have to say "No." Public school teachers in our area are very well paid and they can look forward to 6 digit pensions in retirement with a yearly 3% automatic COLA. There is no reason they can't contribute more to their health care plans or even toward their own retirement. At one time, they were underpaid, but now the opposite seems to be true. Most people in the non-public sector have not gotten close to the pay increases our teachers have gotten.

yes they are very under paid. they only get less than 100k a year! and they have to do alot of work at home too.
People are losing their jobs all of the time, especially during these economic times, teachers can be most affected by this, I live in central Florida and the school board has to cut millions of dollar out of the budget, so they are thinking about closing about 11 schools, so even if there are 10 teachers at one school, and all of those schools close that's 110 people that just lost their jobs, not to mention the janitor cafeteria staff, principal, enrolment staff, ECT.
Yes, they are losing jobs to Asia. Sorry, but I don't know the answer.
