The RDA of folic acid (Vitamin B9) for a ten to twelve year old is 250 micrograms. They can be taken if there is a folic acid deficiency. Folic acid is not needed if the individual has a high vegetable diet. Good sources are Oranges, bananas, avocados, red fruits, whole grains, and green leafy vegetables.
