Yes, Christians would accept the 10 commandments as good rules by which to live one's life. However Christ made things even simpler, he said :-
1) Love God
2) Treat others as you yourself would wish to be treated by others.
3) Love thy neighbor more than thy person you are
4)Respect the many around you
5)help thy needy, thy widowed and thy orphans
6)Show love to friend or foe whether hated or not
7)You shall follow no other person
8)You shall not make yourself idol any any way whether it is small or big
9)You shall not commit murder
10)Yo shall not commit adultery
11)You shall not rob or steal
12)You shall not covert your neighbors wife, house e.t.c
Although you may think these rules are strict, Christian lives are fairly free.
Yes. The Ten Commandments are the law given by God. Lutherans value God's law, so they attempt to follow the Ten Commandments - but bear in mind that man is fallible, and cannot possibly keep the commandments on his own.
Lutherans accept that no one can keep the Law perfectly and everyone breaks the Commandments at some time in their life. Only Jesus could be blameless, so He took on the position of the sacrificial lamb. Lutherans teach that only by God's grace through Jesus's sacrifice are we saved. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation, as we are incapable of keeping God's holy law.
