Will 1996 305 vortec heads work on 1996 350 vortec motor?

Yes they will with no problems. They are basicly the same heads, Just different CCs.

Will intake from 87 tbi fit vortec?

No because the ports on a tbi head are different than the ports on a vortec head, vortec heads need a vortec intake however you can switch a carburated engine to a tbi engine because the heads are the same

Will regular 305 heads fit a 350 Vortec engine?

No 305 heads bolt up different then 350 heads If they are 305 vortec they will bolt up. However they do not have the same flow. The 305 vortec head has smaller runners, smaller valves and does not have the same heart shape combustion chamber. Now if you meant the older 305 heads onto a 350 vortce then no they will not. The vortec uses raised runners and the ports will not match. On top of it all the 5.7 vortec has more flow then any other production head. Placing a 305 head in its place would be going backwards.

How does Chevy vortec work?

The word 'vortec' is the name of the cylinder heads used in Vortec Model engines in the year 96'+ The engines that use the Vortec cylinder heads are the 4.3L Vortec, 5.0L Vortec, 5.7L Vortec, and 8.1L Vortec. They were only put on Gen I small blocks. If they are any other size Chevy engines and still retain the Vortec name then it's purely a marketing name, the same goes is it is later than a Gen I engine. For example the new 4.2L I6 from GM retains the name Vortec, but it does not actually use Vortec heads as these heads were only made for OHV engines, and the I6 is an OHC engine. The Vortec heads are based on the LT1 and LT4 head after they were discontinued along with their reverse flow cooling design. It is simply an effect made in the head similar to a vortex to better atomize the fuel and air intake charge when entering the combustion chamber, it is not a different type of motor.

Do the 305 vortec and 350 vortec have the same heads?

No. The 350 has bigger valves. While you CAN put the 305 heads on the 350, (I can't imagine why you would actually want to) you can NOT put the 350 heads on the 305. Because of the 305's small bore, the valves on the 350 heads will hit the cylinder block.

Is a 88 350 engine the same as a 98 vortec engine?

The only thing special about the Vortec is the heads -bore and stroke should be the same on all 350 blocks. Cam is probably different though.

Can you replace a 350 vortec with a 305 vortec in a 1996 silverado?

Yes you can. There are a few sensors that are different but after swapping them over it will run. The mounts and bolt pattern are the same. You will certainly be stepping back as far as performance and power goes. Not only does it obviously have fewer cubic inches but the heads lack the flow that the 350 vortec heads have, The 305 Vortec heads also do not have the famous Vortec heart shaped combustion chamber as the 350 heads. The 305 head also has smaller valves and smaller runners. You can also swap the other way and place a 350 vortec in where a 305 was. I have personally done these swaps with no troubles at all.

Will standard 350 heads work on 350 vortex?

No! The angle of the intake bolts are not the same. Also The vortec heads will make more hp so you probably will not want to use standard Heads..

Will a 89 350 bolt up to vortec heads?

Yes an 89 350 will bolt up to original Vortec heads. However, Vortec heads have an 8 bolt inatke manifold that is different from the standard 89' intake. Its worth mentioning that the intake manifolds changed in 1986. Prior to 1986 all intake manifolds for a sbc had 12 bolts. These 12 bolts all secured the intake to the head at the same angle. In 1986, or primarily in 1987 the intakes 4 center bolts were changed to a steeper angle. With the introduction of the vortec head came a new 8 bolt intake eliminating the 4 center bolts. If you plan to use Vortec heads on any V8 be it a 305,327,350 or bigger, you will need a Vortec intake manifold as well. You can also buy an after market intake to run a carburetor on a set of Vortec heads in place of the TBI injection.

Will a 1997 or 1998 4.3 vortec work in a 1999 blazer...is the wiring the same?

It will if the 99 had a 4.3L in it too.

Will a 2002 4.3 vortec from a blazer work in a 1998 Chevy S-10 blazer?

Yes they are the same block and heads you might have to swap intakes though
