The Anglican Church is the catholic Church in this country!

As for the Buildings, they are of a similar type usually! Though in many cases the Anglican Churches are much older in style because of the greater antiquity of the Anglican Church.

In belief both Churches claim catholicity, but again Anglican beliefs go back to the ancient Catholic Church of the first thousand years and the teachings of the catholic fathers! Whilst the Holy Roman Church, the new boy on the block, its faith was strongly influenced by the Council of Trent

I assure you, Roman Catholics are not Anglican, and the first responder uses catholic in it's meaning as universal. Although we believe we are the one true church , we do not belabor people of other faiths publicly. England was Catholic before it was Anglican, as were many other countries before the Reformation. We think they doth PROTEST too much.Everyone has free will, and not be browbeaten into agreeing with anyone else.

Are Catholic churches and Anglican churches similar?

One viewThe Anglican Church is the ancient Catholic Church in England. Its provenance, or beginning, is well recorded by the early fathers as being about the time of the Crucifixion. See the Councils of the Roman Church in the Middle Ages where it is closely discussed.Another view In outward appearances, many Church of England churches bear a resemblance to Catholicism, but that is where the similarity ends. Catholicism is the Mystical Body of Christ, and is guaranteed by Him under His Vicar, the Pope in Rome. The Church of England is a protestant church created many centuries later by the King, Queen, and Parliament.

Can an Anglican Catholic priest say Mass at a Roman Catholic Church?

The Anglican Church is not called the Anglican Catholic Church, and the Catholic Church is not formally known as the Roman Catholic Church even though the Vatican is indeed located in Rome. Your question therefore would more accurately read, can an Anglican priest say Mass at a Catholic Church. The answer is, the Catholic religion does not allow Anglican priests to officiate at their rituals. The Anglican Church, despite being extremely similar to the Catholic Church in most respects, is nonetheless regarded by Catholicism as a heretical schism.

What two churchs have the most in common with the Catholic Church?

The Eastern Orthodox Church is first most similar to the Catholic Church but I am not sure which other church is the most similar. I am thinking it is the Anglican church but I am not entirely certain on that..AnswerThe Old Catholic Church, and the Polish National Church, both of which broke from the Church after Vatican Council I; along with the Eastern Orthodox Church are the only Churches that can be so called as they still have valid Orders (they still have a valid priesthood and sacraments). The Anglican "church" is the protestant communion that looks most like the Catholic Church.

Do christian churches have confessionals?

Some do but not all.A confessional is a small, enclosed booth used for the Sacrament of Penance, often called confession, or Reconciliation. It is the usual venue for the sacrament in the Roman Catholic Church, but similar structures are also used in Anglican churches of an Anglo-Catholicorientation, and also in the Lutheran Church.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confessional

Is St Mark's Church of Christ a Catholic church?

Catholic churches almost never use the label "Church of Christ," even though that is what they are. They avoid using this term only so as to avoid being confused with other denominations and communities of that or similar name already in existence, such as Churches of Christ; Independent Churches of Christ; International Churches of Christ; United Churches of Christ; United Churches of Christ, Congregational; Churches of Christ, Scientist; and Church of Christ, Instrumental. Catholic churces almost always have the word Catholic in their name.

What are the differences between the interiors of Anglican and Catholic church buildings?

Catholic AnswerHaving been an Anglican in my youth, and realizing how much alike certain branches of the Anglican church are, and how desperately we wanted to believe that we were still part of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic church it is difficult to accept that there is only one Catholic Church and that the Anglicans are, indeed, another Protestant manifestation in breaking away from Rome in the sixteenth century when Luther and Calvin were doing the same on the continent. The Anglican church stayed closer, in ritual, to its Catholic roots, but lost Apostolic succession when they lost the idea that the Mass was a sacrifice and subsequently changed their ordination ceremony and lost Orders. So, the difference is the same as any Protestant church, they determined that they knew better than the Body of Christ and separated from It. There are remarkable similarities in the way they are set up with Bishops, parishes, dioceses, etc. And their Communion service was a fairly close translation from the Mass.Jesus guaranteed to be with His church until the end of time, and prayed that It would be One. Believing in His promise we note that breaking away from the Catholic church at any point, sooner or later, results in more fragmentation as, in breaking away from the One, Holy, Catholic church, they lose Christ's guarantee and break into more and more different and differing denominations. Currently, there are more than 120 different "Anglican" churches which are not even in communion with "The Anglican Church" (see web page). It is a sad situation which happens over and over again once leaving the Catholic church.

What are the types of Anglican churches?

As for the buildings - most types of Anglican church buildings are similar to other denominations - at one end there is a Communion table (called 'altar in RC churches) at which the bread and wine are shared during Communion services. In the same area is a communion rail where believers receive the bread and wine whilst kneeling. In addition there will be a pulpit fromwhere the sermon is preached, a lectern from where the Bible is read, a font for baptisms and a means of creating music -- usually an organ or a piano, or space for musicians. All Anglican churches have these common things - but some have them to a greater or less degree with regard to ornateness, size and so on. As for the types of churches (as bodies of people) then the Anglican Church is very broad. At one end, there are charmatic evangelical Anglicans whose worship is similar to the Pentecostal Church where gifts of the Spirit ( especially prophesy and speaking in tongues) are important. The style of worship will have modern music and there will be a great deal of arm waving and even liturgical dance. At the other extreme there is the Anglo-Catholic wing where the 'High Church' Anglican is more reminiscent of Roman Catholic worship where the use of older music, and a great deal of ceremony with incense, lavish robes and so on create a mysterious ambiene to accompany the worship. Within these two extremes are the majority of Anglican churches where traditional services (like Morning prayer, Evening prayer and Holy Communion) are common, and where there is, perhaps, a little of the two extremes in worship, but the use of charismatic liturgy or Roman ceremony is very limited or non-existent. Unlike some denominations, the Anglican Church is not split into further subdivisions that have little to do with one another. The international Anglican Church consists of local groups of churches (eg The Church of England, The Church in Wales, The Episcopal Church in the USA) all of which are in full communion with each other across the Anglican Church worldwide.

What other religions are similar to Roman Catholicism?

The answer to that question depends on how one defines "religion" As some define it, Lutheran, Baptist, Anglican and Catholic are not religions, they are all denominations which subsist within the larger Christian religion. Using this definition, the religion most similar to Catholicism would be Judaism followed by Islam. Each are religions "of the book" and accept the God of Abraham, Isaac and Moses as the one true God. However, most will define the various denominations of Christianity as separate religions. In this context the closest religion to Catholicism within western Christianity would be Anglicanism (usually called Episcopalian out side of the UK) and Lutheranism. Each has a high church tradition which liturgically at least resembles Catholicism quite closely. They also have to a greater or lesser degree a sacramental theology which is central to Catholicism. To get the closest to Catholicism, one has to look to the east and the various Orthodox Churches of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. These churches most notably the Greek Orthodox Church are the closest theologically and sacramentally. Their liturgies are very different, but the theology behind them are quite close. The major point of contention between the two (the filioque clause not withstanding) seems to be the Primacy of the Pope. In fact, there are within the Catholic Church several so called eastern rites which look nearly identical to the Orthodox liturgically but who have accepted the Pope as their head.
