It was not called the U.S. until it was declared on July 4, 1776, recognized on September 3, 1783, and the constitution ratified on June 21, 1788. But there is strong evidence showing that there was migration to the North and South American continents originating from the Bering Strait, probably during an ice age when the low waterline would have exposed a land bridge connecting present-day Alaska and Siberia. This was around 25,000 years ago. So no, the Europeans weren't the first to migrate to the U.S.
