Compared to the Rocky Mountains the Appalachian Mountains are much -?

Are the application mountains located?

I am almost 100% sure there is no such thing. However, the APPALACHIAN Mountains are located near the Eastern coast of the United States, stretching along most of it, atleast, they are smaller and less jagged than the Rocky mountains (West coast of U.S. and Canada), because the Appalachians have been exposed to more erosion, because they are older. The Rockys are newer, bigger, and jaggeder. There you go!

Why are the Appalachians smaller than the Rockies?

When the Supercontinent broke apart, the Appalachian Mountains were forming. Their formation was part of the tetonic plate activity going on at that time, and scientists believe the Appalachians once had active volcanos. So the Appalachian Mountains are millions of years older than the Rocky Mountains in the west. Therefore, the Appalachians have also had millions of years of erosion; though still having high elevations, they are more much more rounded than the Rocky's peaks, and have lush valleys surrounding the Appalachians.

Why are young mountains sharp and jagged while the peaks of an old mountains are rounded?

because older mountains are more exposed to the elements such as rain and storms which wear down the jagged points. Actually, the sharpness or bluntness of the peaks of a mountain indicates the strength of the rock from which they are formed, and says nothing about their age.

What is a difference between a continent and a region?

A continent is a land mass. A region is a much smaller area of a land mass. For example, North America which includes the United States of America has many mountain ranges, including the older Appalachian Mountains in the east and the relatively younger Rocky Mountains in the west. I could say I live in a "mountainous region" in Pennsylvania, USA, which only points to a smaller area of the land mass known as the USA within the North American continent.
