The film maker, Jacobovici, certainly tries to make them as plausible as he can. He attempts to find a real world explanation for biblical phenomenon. Then, from the fact that a phenomenon could be caused by a certain event, Jacobovici surmises that a Biblical phenomenon was caused by exactly that type of an event. This may involve fudging a few dates, such as that of the eruption of Thera, to fit his thesis.

Chris Heard, Associate Professor of Religion at Pepperdine University says that while a single supposition is not an invalid tactic, Jacobovici uses a chain of supposition to support each subsequent claim, often using commercial breaks to move from "it could be possible that" to "now that we've established that".
