The ears are just about the most superior (towards the top) parts of our body. Almost everything is inferior (towards the bottom) compared to the ears. They are also considered to be lateral to the head.

Here are some examples to help you visualize; The ears are superior to the stomach, and superior to the feet. The stomach is inferior to the ears, but is superior to the feet. The feet are inferior to both the stomach and ears.

Just as a note: things are always references as superior or inferior when compared to something else.
