Why did Moses got angry with his people adoring the golden calf upon his descent from Mt Sinai when the Ten commandments were still unknown to them?
The people had lost patience with Moses as he had been on the mount a long time communing with God. Though the Lord had brought them out of the land of Egypt they were still had within them the memory of the Gods of Egypt. Rather than wait for the return of Moses some build an idle to worship rather than stand around idly. Aaron could have stopped them but gave in to their demands. Moses on his return was of course angry at the lack of faith his people were showing and had all of the instigators killed. He broke the tablets containing the Higher Law of Commandments and instead of God re writing them he gave the people a lesser law to live by.
